Palestine/Israel Resolution

Whereas Israel is the largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid ($3-10 billion depending on what’s counted), the US taxpayer has a fundamental interest in a peace between Israelis and Palestinians that is just and comprehensive, based on international and humanitarian law

Whereas US foreign policy must be guided by the international conventions to which the US is a signatory such as Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 which frame the basis for a resolution of the conflict and require Israel to vacate the territories it has occupied since 1967.

Whereas US spending policy should follow the US Arms Export Contol Act which prohibits the provision of arms for other than defensive purposes

Whereas the International Court of Justice has declared Israeli annexation of the territories including East Jerusalem and the building of settlements in occupied territories illegal.

Therefore be it resolved that the U.S. suspend aid to Israel until it withdraws from the Occupied Territories.
